It is essential that a mentalist’s props look as natural and inconspicuous as possible. After all, a mentalist is not supposed to be using any props, and if he has to use them, they should resemble everyday objects. The pocket clip board in appearance is a most ordinary piece of board with a clip Yet it is very cleverly gimmicked as an invaluable mentalist’s aid.
The Pocket Clip Board is a secret device to give you access to anything written or drawn by a spectator and retained by him. You can have one or more spectators write a few words, or numbers, or draw some simple design on a piece of paper, which is then folded and retained by them for later verification.
You apparently read their minds and reveal or reproduce the word, number or design, which is verified by comparison with their original.
To all appearances this is a small piece of board with a simple clip, to hold a piece of paper. The spectator writes something on the paper and retains this, while the clip board is gathered back. However, the performer or his assistant can easily access what has been written on the board.
The presentation possibilities for this prop are many. A person’s name, or that of his mother, or aunt .. anything you couldn’t normally know. The number of a note in the spectator’s pocket, the amount of change in his wallet, his or her Car License, or driving license number, or date of birth, wedding anniversary, etc. all make good presentation topics.
Have someone think of an animal, bird or object. Have them think of a place they went on vacation … or a journey. A place where they have hidden some object (Treasure Hunt!)
For kids, or an audience with a diverse language range simple drawings (house, bird, chair, etc.) or geometric designs (for example triangle in a circle, or circle in a square etc.) would be a good option
You could have two or three or even half a dozen spectators participate in a mind-reading routine, with each spectator writing something different.
Remember the clip board is only an aid to your mental or mind-reading routine. Many excellent routines for this have been described in several books and magazines devoted to mentalism, and with a little imagination, you could devise several mind-boggling routines of your own.
Comes ready to use, with instructions at a very low cost. You can get half a dozen for your act …
